We love The Old Quarry!

We realise we might be a bit biased so don’t just take our word for it

here’s the views of our most recent guests:

“”We came here for the weekend – five friends getting together after a long time. This place is poetic; the ambience inside and outside of the house is perfect for such occasions. The birds coming and joining us now and then just added more flavour to the stay
April 2024 – Amit, Uxbridge

“Had a wonderful and cosy stay in The Old Quarry. Comfortable and cosy – especially enjoyed the lovely fire-pit for roasting smores and tree swing. Will definitely be back soon. Thank you!”
April 2024 – Danny, Shoeburyness

“The Quarry was perfect for a long weekend getaway. The cabin had everything you need and is in a lovely location to explore nearby towns and beaches. We loved the surrounding woodland and watching the different types of birds and wildlife. The town of Wivey is quiet but perfect if you just want a little walk and a pub lunch. Would definitely recommend staying at the Quarry if you’re after a quiet weekend away.”
April 2024 – Samantha, Frome

“A very cosy and easy place to be immersed in nature. The weather wasn’t great (stormy) but didn’t affect our enjoyment of the cabin. I will be recommending it to all my friends!
April 2024 – Donna, Padbury

“We have had a lovely relaxed week! Despite the weather being a bit (a lot!) stormy! Loved the cabin and the woodland. The birds were a joy to watch. Had some great trips out to feed the alpacas at Stoke Wood, Dunster Castle and Tarr Steps. And great meals out at The Bear, the Anchor Inn and the Chapel Grounds Cafe, plus fish and chips from the Kingfisher. I really do hope we’ll be back. I know that whenever I feel I need to get away from it all, the cabin will be my first choice! Thank you for creating such a comfortable and cosy retreat.”
April 2024 – Donna, Padbury

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here and don’t really want to leave! It’s been cosy, comfortable and has everything we needed. Travelling with a 6, 4 and almost 1 year old in wet and muddy weather, I was particularly grateful to have a washing machine and a tumble dryer! We’d love to come back one day in the summer as the cabin seems very well equipped for warm weather activities. Our children loved the swing, exploring the area around the cabin and the fairy lights! It’s been so nice being able to cook dinner while being able to watch them play outside. Really idyllic. Thank you for the scones too – that was a lovely surprise! Also really appreciated the thoughtful/helpful notes dotted around on various items in the cabin. We hope to come back soon! Thank you Paul and Rachel!”
April 2024 – Jeff, Clapham

“We’ve loved our stay (although it felt very short!) at the cabin. It’s been very cosy and homely and super well equipped. We’ve found everything we needed. We’ve enjoyed the quietness and the calm. It’s been a great spot to explore Exmoor National Park. An Easter weekend to remember. We’ll be back! Thank you Paul and Rachel for being great hosts!”
April 2024 – Menka, Watford

“We had a great stay. The cabin is well set up, the kitchen and dining area in particular are brilliant. Communication was very good and the outdoor area lovely. We had terrible weather unfortunately so it was nice to be able to retreat to the cabin.”
March 2024 – Laura, Belfast

“We had a lovely stay. The cabin is very comfortable and comes with practically everything one could ever need. Although the weather wasn’t with us this week, we have a great week. Many thanks.”
March 2024 – Laura, Belfast

“We had an absolutely magical time at The Old Quarry. Paul was a wonderful host and gave really helpful instructions before we arrived. He also helped us out during our stay with a quick response to my message to him about how to best adjust the shower to get the right temperature. We loved sitting and watching the birds feeding outside the windows: nuthatch, greater spotted woodpecker, coal tits, plus the usual garden birds and a very confident pheasant called Vince! It was a short walk down the hill to the town where we enjoyed shopping for local items in the Wivey Larder. Lots to do within easy driving distance, whatever the weather. We had a rainy day in the Fleet Air Arm Museum, a glorious day biking and walking on the Quantocks, and then on the way home we stopped off at Glastonbury Tor and Shepton Mallet Prison“.
March 2024 – Neil, Worcester

“This has been the perfect start to our Easter break! We arrived on Friday night to the cottage beautifully equipped and we loved waking up the following morning to the sounds of all the birds, especially the woodpeckers. We took a trip over to the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Museum on Saturday as the weather wasn’t quite right to explore the gorgeous countryside. The souvenir guide is in the spotty box if you fancy going – there’s plenty to see, including Concorde. Once we arrived back home (we) pootled into Wiveliscombe, but were caught out that the Wivey Larder closes at 1:30. It just meant we had to go back to buy sweets and pastries another day! Sunday’s weather was just perfect for getting out to the Quantocks and, while 3 explored on bikes, 2 did a lovely walk over the ridge. Everyone enjoyed seeing the ponies and the views were lush. The boys were glad to see the ice-cream man at the end of their ride too. As we prepare to leave (off to Shepton Mallet Prison for an escape room experience there), we have been able to enjoy this lovely space and quality family time. We’ve all very much enjoyed looking out for Vince and all the other wildlife and our boys loved the swing. While the weather was not conducive to a firepit and marshmallows and smores, it just means we’ll have to come back again. Thank you!”
March 2024 – Neil, Worcester

“A tranquil and welcoming stay in a delightful cabin. Surrounded by the wildlife that greets you every morning. A joy to return to after long walks. Highly recommended.”
March 2024 – Diarmuid, Warmley

“There are many words you can use to describe this place. All have their own meaning and importance to the individual concerned. For me, tranquil, serene, relaxing and unwinding sum up our feelings. It isn’t just the escape to a quiet place that is special, but the immediate access to the Quantocks, Exmoor and the many other walks that can be enjoyed. The location at the cabin, surrounded by wildlife; that stillness in the air; that peacefulness, all giving a complete mindfullness (experience). I would highly recommend this to anyone to experience for themselves”
March 2024 – Diarmuid, Warmley

“We had an amazing weekend staying at The Old Quarry. Such a lovely, secluded cabin with all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay. Lots of useful info and instructions allowed for a hassle free break. Everything was perfect.”
March 2024 – Marc, Southampton

“A lovely and relaxing place for us all to be together, eating, drinking and laughing. What an absolutely stunning place!! I’m never lost for words, but am now.”
March 2024 – Lesley, East Lyng

“A tranquil short break, perfect for two friends wanting to escape the dullness of adult life! Firstly, with great directions provided by Paul, we found The Old Quarry with ease. At first glance, we knew we’d be happy here. We immediately set our bags down to explore the place. We were soon rushed away to spend the evening snuggling ‘Man’s Best Friend’ at the Golden Retriever Experience, Minehead. With it being so close, The Old Quarry was the perfect location for our stay; nice and private, quiet, yet with easy access to the surrounding areas. The detail provided in the information book provided meant that we had near to no issues with anything during our stay. However, apparently neither of us are capable of successfully igniting a log burner (we may need a lesson or two for next time, Paul). We will for sure be returning when the weather picks up to explore more of what The Old Quarry has to offer in its outdoor space as well as the surrounding areas. Thank you so much! PS// the scones were a lovely touch – we must return the favour with something that everyone loves; a Malteser bunny! :)”
March 2024 – Katie, Rugby

“A super weekend for our friends’ bi-annual get together. The cabin is lovely and setting secluded and peaceful. Lovely walking and town.”
March 2024 – Steve, Dorchester

Wonderful stay at this peaceful cabin
February 2024 – Nicola, London

“A wonderful weekend away as a surprise for my 74th birthday arranged by my lovely children. Couldn’t control the weather, but we all had a great family time; not to be forgotten. The wildlife is something you could spend all day watching. Lodge was great; been before and will be back I’m sure.”
February 2024 – Lisa, Wellington

Lovely cabin in a great location. Nice to find a quiet countryside retreat that isn’t too far from a small village! Very clean, well kept & comfortable cabin.”
February 2024 – Rebecca, Portslade

Couldn’t recommend highly enough, totally peaceful and felt super comfortable. 100% will be back again!”
February 2024 – Jack, Norton Fitzwarren

“A perfect, peaceful break so close to home! Thank you for an amazing time and your fab garden has provided lots of inspiration for new paintings! One of the best places we’ve stayed. Will be back again.”
February 2024 – Jack, Norton Fitzwarren

Amazing hosts, super friendly and very helpful. Although they were always contactable, they left easy follow instructions around the place and in the welcome pack. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty utensils and things, even a cafetière! Lots to do in the cabin with games indoor and outdoor. We even set up the volleyball net. Lots of nature to watch from all the windows and a beautiful family of pheasants. We had lunch in the local town which was an easy walk too. I would recommend this cabin over and over. 10/10 everything.”
February 2024 – Sophie, London

“Thank you for providing wonderful accommodation for a much needed break away for a very special birthday! We enjoyed every peaceful moment. And the notes were banging!
February 2024 – Sophie, London

“The cabin is located in a lovely, peaceful setting and we spent a week using the cabin as our base. Although we were mostly away from the cabin during the days (we were celebrating my husband’s birthday with friends and family), it was a lovely and very cosy cabin to return to in the evening. We would highly recommend the cabin for a relaxing getaway and would love to return one day!”
January 2024 – Catarina, Cambridge

Great value for money had a lovely stay!”
January 2024 – Stephanie, Chudleigh

“A long-awaited break designed to unwind, and this gave us everything we wanted and more! A wonderful base from which to explore the countryside on foot. We enjoyed many walks – some from here and some a short drive away. Having so much flora and fauna and bird life on our doorsteps gave us so much peace and joy – those birds and squirrels eat a lot! Sneaky squirrels also climbing the rhododendron to fly at the bird feeding post to scrounge seeds and nuts! Lovely local produce and great conversations in the village shops. We will definitely come back again and recommend The Old Quarry to our loved ones. It’s also so very well equipped lots of little details that we noticed and really appreciated. Thank you!”
January 2024 – Kathy, Isle of Wight

“The most quiet beautiful place, perfect break after a crazy Christmas. This is the perfect relaxing break the cabin has everything you need from games to touches. From wildlife to a small village 5 min walk. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts they decorated the cabin for our friends 50th birthday and it was beautiful. The cabin is so cosy and warm, it’s like being in a different world. The cabin is perfect for many different breaks, it would also be lovely for a family break there is so much to see outside the cabin birds, squirrels, rabbits and much more which children will love seeing and exploring. There is also a lovely swing attached to a tree and a picnic area and barbecue area for families to have their meals outside and enjoy this surroundings. The cabin is also very romantic and is perfect for a couple to go. Enjoy a quiet break. When we arrived at the cabin we had the most amazing jam scones cream and milk waiting for us”
January 2024 – Jenna, Porth

“We came for a birthday weekend for a friend as a group of women. The lodge was everything we hoped and more. Beautiful, tranquil setting. We could all relax and unwind. Spent hours sitting, bird watching. The hosts had been so thoughtful and helpful. Loved the scones they left (so much so we all bought a jar of chuckleberry jam in the village). It was a friends’ 50th birthday and Paul and Rachel were so wonderful putting up decorations we sent; made it even more magical. None of us wanted to leave and would love to return. Thank you!”
January 2024 – Jenna, Porth

“I have been dancing around. My favourite thing was geocaching. I loved it” (Cooper, Aged 6)
“Thanks for a super relaxing stay in an amazing spot. The cabin was fantastic with lots of lovely little touches. We will be returning hopefully when the weather is a little better so we can use the fire pit and enjoy the surroundings a little more.”
January 2024 – Michelle, Birmingham

“We arrived for a 5-day stay. The Lodge was set in its land, a beautiful place with fairy lights on, early evening it looked very homely. Inside was very well presented clean and tidy. We had a great stay with the outdoor feeling. It was in a tranquil place surrounded by trees. Would recommend this. However, the internet could do with some attention.”
December 2023 – Omar, Taunton

“We absolutely loved our stay. The cabin was so cosy for our annual Christmas get together with our young children. They absolutely loved the outdoor area, particularly the swing! It was -4⁰ during our stay but the cabin stayed warm and we all loved the cosy vibes! Everything was as described and arriving was made so easy with Paul’s detailed info sent a couple days before. The children are already asking when we are going back!”
December 2023 – Terri, Cornwall

Absolutely fantastic accommodation, secluded peaceful and cozy. The kids thoroughly enjoyed exploring the cabin and surrounding woodland (fabulous place to play with their dinosaurs) As parents it was cozy, comfortable, clean and a highly enjoyable unwind and relaxation time with the kids. Well thought out facilities and everything you would need for a relaxing getaway! Superb!”
November 2023 – Sophie, Bristol

“Our stay was very warm and welcoming. Paul was very attentive host and have made our stay truly enjoyable and positive. The cabin itself was very well equipped and warm in November! We felt safe and enjoyed the nature escape. The birds and the clotted cream/jam were a delightful touch. Will be recommending the clotted cream and cabin to friends and family! Thank you Paul and Rachel! We look forward to experiencing the cabin in the summer
November 2023 – Greta, London

Ideal location for a relaxing break. Got there a little early and was allowed in. The Old Quarry is exactly what you need if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of your daily lives. The wildlife is both entertaining and beautiful to watch. Loved the little touches inside and the cream tea was what was needed to start the holiday after a long journey. Would recommend the The Old Quarry for a short or long stay.”
November 2023 – Pearl, Wilnecote

So peaceful and relaxing. The wildlife was amazing. We thought we heard a woodpecker until we noticed the blue tits eating some bugs from the cabin. Watching the blue tits on the bird feeders was entertaining. My 89 year old Dad was very impressed with the squirrels’ antics around the cabin. Everything that was needed for a relaxing holiday was here. Paul and Rachel thought of everything. Cream teas were a lovely thought. Thank you for everything”
November 2023 – Pearl, Wilnecote

“I had a wonderful experience at The Old Quarry with 4 friends. Paul was very friendly and easy to contact. The cabin went above and beyond our expectations – even with 5 of us it felt spacious and comfortable while being cosy and providing all we needed for an autumnal escape (the wood burner being a highlight)! The surroundings are beautiful and the addition of the outdoor fire pit and swing made it even more magical. There were some lovely walks from the cabin and the town is very cute too! A great experience.”

November 2023 – Kendall, Hildenborough

“We came here to celebrate our 39th Wedding Anniversary after an incredibly sad few years (we both lost parents). It is the most calming, I would say even spiritual place to stay. There is something very special about this cabin, its location. We walked down the muddy track to the town and back along the road. Motorists were incredibly aware and courteous to us (not used to this, living in Manchester!) We visited Watchet, which had breathtaking views from the B3190. It’s a beautiful little town; shops, eateries and a fossil beach. Visited Sheppy’s Cider Farm; great visit, something for all the family. Thank you Paul and Rachel for all your hard work, thought and care in making The Old Quarry cabin such a special place to stay.”
October 2023 – Aprille, Manchester

Three of us had a thoroughly enjoyable time in the spotless and comfortable Old Quarry. We were so glad to have a washing machine and drying machine because we all fell over sliding down a muddy country walk! Not clever but very funny, particularly as one of us had only one set of clothes and was going to a party! We highly recommend staying here. It was well equipped and so peaceful; delightful having a wood burning stove and lovely to sit and observe the quantities of birds. The other good thing was that Paul answered queries immediately. Thank you – an excellent stay.
October 2023 – Clare, London

“We couldn’t have asked for a nicer time here, it was truly everything we wanted and more. My friend and I came for a writing retreat and it was the absolute perfect location: private, peaceful, and Paul very kindly hid the wifi password from us so we could have a total tech detox. We spent our days sat on the porch watching the myriad birds, squirrels, and handsome Mr Pheasant as we wrote. The cabin itself has everything you could possibly want, as well some kindly included treats. We enjoyed walking down into the village each day (usually to buy more crisps and wine – the writing essentials), and had some lovely walks in the surrounding area. I’ve stayed in many airbnbs and this has been my favourite so far. We had an amazing time and are already planning to come again next year!”

“Sometimes you come across a spot that offers more than others. Paul’s house was in a great location, clean, spacious and lovely green surroundings. the squirrels, pheasants and birds made the garden lively and the different places in the garden were surprising every time. In addition, a lot of privacy. In the event of a small problem, Paul acted very proactively. I can highly recommend this house!”

“We would have liked to stay for a few more days, which let us know how nice we had it. The cabin is very pleasant and Paul an excellent host. Everything has been thought of. Also “Wivey”/ Wiveliscombe is an attractive place to stay for a number of days. A Coop, and some cozy shops and pub. We would recommend going to the store diagonally opposite the Coop, at the corner of the street on the way to the pub. This shop sells local art. We bought a beautiful framed picture from the wooded area here.”
June 2023 – Rianne, Holland

“In the months that we are now travelling we have been able to stay in a number of nice places. This is definitely one of them! Our three boys enjoyed the garden! “Ah what a fabulous trip we’ve had! A real gem of a place. Kids absolutely loved it and had the best time. Swing was a thorough hit with the whole family as was watching all the beautiful birds and wildlife. We had some really great weather, so Wivey Pool was a welcome relief and a lovely little spot to cool down. Wivey is a lovely little place. The Bear pizza takeaway was very welcome one evening. Honestly can’t fault the holiday, apart from the kids (joking) ((sort of)). We’ll try and come on our own next time haha! We’ll definitely be back! Thanks so much.”

Wiveliscombe town centre is just a few minutes down the road and has all the shops, pubs and restaurants that you need, if nothing takes your fancy, there’s several other places within a short drive. Great walks to be had nearby from Clatworthy Reservoir to Willett Hill and Tower. As is echoed throughout the guest book we had a wonderful few days, the kids thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife, the cabin is great and I reckon in the Summer it would be even better… being able to drink wine on the veranda and enjoying a late night fire pit would have made a great trip even better!!!”

Beautiful place. Loved bird-watching, playing board games and sitting in front of the fire. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t spoil us. “The Old Quarry was such a gem to stumble across. A beautifully private location nestled in a lovely little corner of the world. We were floored by how astounding it was the moment we arrived. Everything was clean and everything we could have needed was provided for. A perfect place for a small group of friends to go off on day trip adventures and a perfect hub for good food and good company. It made us sad to leave! Although we didn’t get to meet Paul and Rachel in person, they were very thorough in making sure the place was set up for our needs and was happy to answer our questions prior to check in. The instructions and information we received a few days prior let us know everything in advance. The booklet inside the cabin detailed how to use every appliance, local amenities and a little history on the place. It truly felt like nothing was missed by these thoughtful hosts. We really hope to stay at The Old Quarry again!
January 2023 – Aaron, Essex

“Our first holiday together as a friendship group and it was an amazing base for our adventures! Was absolutely stunned when we arrived. Everything was provided for and absolutely spotless. Regret that we didn’t book for longer so we could sit and enjoy the fire and Vincent the pheasant outside of the window! A lovely atmosphere that encouraged good conversation over food and card games. Plenty memories have been made and we hope to return! If only we could live in this amazing little cabin!”

“We had a wonderful stay at The Old Quarry. The location and surroundings are so peaceful and although you are close to town you feel very private and secluded. The cabin is the best equipped Airbnb we have been to and the owners really have thought of everything. They left us a cream tea which was a lovely touch. Would most definitely recommend for those looking for a countryside escape with beautiful wildlife on your doorstep!

We’ve been impressed by the hospitality and attention to detail of our hosts and by the warmth and friendliness of the locals. We enjoyed Wivey Circular Walk number 4 and a trip to Sheppey’s Cider Brewing in Bradford-upon-Tone. We can also recommend The Bear Inn for a cosy evening.”

The kitchen was fully equipped and the decor and lighting made for a very cosy environment. We enjoyed multiple teas on the porch and loved toasting marshmallows on the fire pit! Vince and his pheasanty pals visited daily and watching the coal tits and nuthatch on the bird feeder! THANK YOU!

It is so sad to leave, but we will most definitely be back. Thank you both.”

“This is the best swing I have ever swung on – and that’s saying something as I’m 70 years old! This is a very special place!
August 2022 – Dinah, Leigh

“We just had to come back for more of this beautiful bolthole. As before, a relaxing and peaceful stay in a very well equipped and comfy lodge. We have drunken and eaten too much again, so a detox follows…. Wivey is a great little town and we frequented ‘The Bear’ more than once (great food). Otherwise, a trip to Dunster Castle and local shopping was all that interrupted a very lazy week. Kudos to the cleaning crew too – everything clean as a whistle and tidy. Until the next time then (Oh, we’ll be back for sure), thanks Paul and Rachel for keeping an amazing place going! PS// ‘Vince’ was here all week.”
July 2022 – James, Wells

July 2022 – Marc, North Petherton

Wow! This place is the most beautiful place we have stayed! Everything here has been exceptional. When we first arrived, we was blown away with location. We got inside and Thomas (aged 3) said it was beautiful! The beds are extremely comfortable. Kitchen was so well equipped – loved that you have children’s plates and cups. Lovely touch leaving milk, scones, cream and jam! Very delicious 🙂 We will definitely be back for longer next time and would highly recommend to others! July 2022 – Jake, Plymouth

“Well… what can we say? This place is just so beautiful – and even better than the website! It’s so unusual to find such a secluded spot with no neighbours whatsoever – apart from the lovely wildlife (especially the brave pheasant!). We simply can’t wait to return at some point, perhaps in the autumn. I’ll bet The Old Quarry is spectacular at that time of year. Thank you for our favourite cabin holiday yet (and we’ve tried a fair few!) See you soon!”
July 2022 – Jennifer, Redditch

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Beautiful area full of wildlife and secluded. Paul was very helpful in the leadup to the holiday with information and ideas for during. The cream teas and biscuits left for us were an extra bonus on top!! All in all was an amazing time for me and my partner. Would definitely come again!!
June 2022 – Sophie, Braintree

“We had a fantastic stay enjoying the peace and quiet of Somerset. The information given and the extra tips and questions made you feel very heard and welcome. We very much enjoyed our stay watching the various wildlife around the cabin. While here, we visited Cheddar Gorge, which we both went to as children with our separate families, so very much enjoyed the nostalgia and the beautiful caves, town and cliff tops (would highly recommend going). All in all, very happy with our stay. Beautiful, but small town was very friendly and would definitely recommend and come back! Well worth the 4.5 hour drive!! (Also, there was a pheasant with a droopy wing that likes to visit, that I took upon myself to name him ‘Vince’)”
June 2022 – Sophie, Braintree

“What a lovely space. Lots of wildlife. Close to town. Firepit, hammock and swing. Was a bit miffed with the swing on the first day as the tree trunk was directly behind it and couldn’t swing on it, then the lightbulb came on and we swang sideways and had lots of fun. Kitchen was well stocked. Hosts were very attentive. No issues though.”
June 2022 – Karen, Newton Abbot

“What a fantastic place to stay! Really enjoyed the family time we all needed in this beautiful cabin. Everything we needed was here for us and the little extra touches were very thoughtful. Loved the wildlife and will certainly be booking again.”

We have loved feeding the birds and watching the wildlife. So relaxing! We will be coming back to stay, hopefully in the near future”
June 2022 – Leanne, Llanharry

“What an amazing find this place was. Found completely by chance as we weren’t even browsing to holiday in this area, but we’re so glad we did. The peace, privacy and nature aplenty set it apart from any other cabin holiday we’ve done before. The check in and out process was very easy and quick. The hosts have thought of everything, there is nothing that, throughout the entire week, we thought we could have done with. The little touches such as the games, children’s plates and cutlery, the step in the bathroom made all the difference as it made the children feel right at home. The surrounding area is just a child’s paradise and they spent hours each day exploring and playing. The local village is beautiful with an abundance of shops and eating places. Further afield, we enjoyed trips to Watchet, Dunster beach and village, Blue Anchor beach, Tropiquaria Zoo and even a ride on the West Somerset Railway steam train to Minehead. The children (and us!) were very sad to say goodbye this morning, but have already asked to return, which we definitely will be!
May 2022 – Katie, Kinver

The most wonderful and relaxing week spent at The Old Quarry; it was just what we all needed. It was a great base for exploring the local area and we spent a few days at local beaches, Dunster was particularly beautiful. A great day on the West Somerset Railway also from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead. The cream tea on board was surprisingly delicious. The best was just relaxing at the cabin. The children have had a fantastic time exploring the grounds and seeing all the birds and animals who visited. So glad we chanced upon this place. Would love to return.”
May 2022 – Katie, Kinver

Highly recommended
May 2022 – Sue, Poole

Beautiful and peaceful place definitely worth staying at
May 2022 – Sue, Tewkesbury

“We all have a lovely stay even if it was only short stay. The young boys loved it in the woods and looking for bugs. Couldn’t find the lakes, which was a shame. We wish we had booked for longer. Will defo look for next year. So peaceful. Loved the wildlife.”
May 2022 – Sue, Tewkesbury

A really lovely place; fantastic location and brilliant facilities. Very well thought out. Enjoyed sitting watching the birds, rabbits and squirrels. Wiveliscombe is a lovely village. Lido is lovely and a really nice pool. The Bear Inn very friendly, lovely food. The 5 mile walk around Clatworthy Reservoir is recommended. Also Abbotswood Cycle Hire based at Globe pub, Sampford Peverell. Best to call ahead and they’ll get bikes out. Also, if you get a puncture etc you can ring and they’ll come and collect you! If you do it on a Sunday, the carvery is a great way to reward yourself after. A much needed, relaxing week.
May 2022 – Amanda, Luton

This place is perfect, secluded, has everything you need for a south west visit. Great location to everything.
May 2022 – Anthony, Alveley

What a magical place; we have had a marvellous week in this lovely cosy cabin. The moment we arrived we knew this was going to be a week to remember and we were not disappointed. The wildlife has entertained us completely and the village shops have supplied us with anything we have needed. A visit to the Garden Shop, where we stocked up on more bird seed (take your own container for a reduced price) and the Wivey Larder for lots of mouth-watering goodies. A visit to the Valley of the Rocks, Lynton and Lynmouth is a must. We have also been to Watchet and Wimbleball Lake. We can’t wait to come back next year – we have already booked for 2023!!
April 2022 – Susan, Dorchester

“My family & I had a fantastic stay at The Old Quarry. It was everything we expected and more! Communication from Paul & Rachel was excellent and as a result we had a week packed with brilliant activities. The cabin itself is perfectly equipped for everyone and the care and attention to detail shines through! I would 100% recommend a stay at The Old Quarry to anyone!
April 2022 – Lisa, Basingstoke

Wow! What a great find this place was! The Old Quarry lived up to all our expectations and more. The cabin itself is so well equipped, with everything being of good quality (hooray for good toilet paper :)) The little touches show how much Paul and Rachel care about guests enjoying their stay (the wildlife diary and the spare single bedding were lovely touches). Our week has been filled with great days out thanks to all of the recommendations from Paul and Rachel. We also thoroughly enjoyed a trip to Clatworthy Reservoir. Overall, a fantastic, peaceful holiday!
April 2022 – Lisa, Basingstoke

“We had a very peaceful and cosy stay! The Old Quarry had everything we needed and more! Local shops provided everything we needed during our stay – the local butchers sold us some tasty lamb chops. The children enjoyed playing in the garden, on the swing and hammock. We enjoyed the wildlife and birds singing – spotted a woodpecker and a duck nesting nearby with lots of lovely creatures visiting the feeders throughout the day. During our stay we ventured out to Cheddar Gorge, Tarr Steps and Quantock Hills. It was lovely to know that, after a long day, we would be returning back to The Old Quarry for a relaxing evening. We can’t wait to come back!
April 2022 – Abbie-Jean, London

“The Old Quarry has been a delightful base from which to explore the local area. Comfortable, clean and warm. The weather has been kind to us. Recommend a trip to Tarr Steps. We have enjoyed the wildlife from the comfort of our chairs. An excellent place to spend time away from home. Highly recommended! PS/ Wimbleball Lake is highly recommended as well!!”
