Hand-built during 2007-2008 as a dedicated holiday let property, The Old Quarry is a beautiful Somerset log cabin, perfectly at home within its woodland setting. Access to the holiday home is either via steps and a veranda at the front or via a wheelchair-friendly ramp towards the rear of the property.
Arranged as illustrated on the floor plan, the accommodation comprises of three bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin and 1 single), a family bathroom and an attractive open plan kitchen, dining and living space. It enjoys Wi-Fi, double glazing and electric heating throughout.
Open Plan Area
Surrounded by the warmth of natural wood, one half of the open plan space is dedicated purely to relaxation. There are two sofas, a space for games as well as a TV with Freeview and a CD/DVD player (with a small selection of films). Many guests mention that they like the large triple aspect windows to simply enjoy watching the wildlife and birdlife outside. The log-burning stove is also located in this area, making it the perfect, cosy place to unwind.
The other half is split between dining and kitchen areas. The dining area is complete with table and chairs, while the kitchen comes with a gas oven and hob, microwave, sink, toaster, kettle and fridge (with ice box). The cupboards and drawers contain ample amounts of pots and pans, utensils, cutlery, crockery and all you need to be self-catering (though there are plenty of alternatives available if you decide you don’t want to cook). If you’re going out for the day, there’s a slow cooker (and cookbook) so that you can enjoy a tasty meal almost as soon as you return home.
Bathroom
Using modern fittings, the family bathroom provides a shower (please note that, in terms of accessibility, there is a step up into the shower), hand basin and WC. There is also a separate utility area with a washing-machine and condenser tumble dryer.
Bedrooms
There are three bedrooms; a double, a twin (with single beds) and a single. In common with the rest of the lodge, each bedroom has electric heaters. There are additional blankets at hand as well to doubly ensure you have a cosy night. It’ll be a comfortable one too, with an award-winning range of mattresses used throughout. In addition, each bedroom enjoys hanging space, drawers for clothes as well as bedside tables and reading lamps. There is also an hairdryer supplied in the double bedroom.
